Kitchen Backsplash

The detail work that ties a kitchen renovation together.

More Than Just a Back Wall

A kitchen backsplash sits at eye level and runs across the most-used work surface in the home. Grout lines that do not align with cabinet rails, cuts that do not meet outlets cleanly, or tile that does not sit flush against the countertop edge — all of these are visible every day. The backsplash is where precision shows.

We account for every obstruction before setting the first tile: outlet boxes, under-cabinet lighting strips, range hood mounting points, window sills, and the countertop reveal. Each one requires a measured cut, not a guess.

Patterns and Materials We Install

Subway Tile

The standard 3x6 subway tile in standard offset, stacked, or vertical orientation. Ceramic or porcelain. Grout joint width significantly affects the final look — we discuss this during planning.

Hexagon and Mosaic

Sheet-mounted mosaics and hexagon tile require careful alignment at seams. We verify sheet-to-sheet joint consistency across the full run before committing to mortar.

Square and Zellige-Style

Square tile in a grid or offset pattern. Handmade and zellige-style tiles have slight variation in size and surface — they require a different setting approach than uniform factory tile.

Specialty and Statement Tile

Metallic-finish, textured, or large-format slab backsplash. Slab-style backsplash (porcelain panels 24 inches or wider) requires a different adhesive and support during installation to prevent slippage during cure.
